Karu on iPad
Karu is now made for iPad: a sidebar with your pinned notes, folders and tags, your page in a centered column like on the Mac, the Mac's calendar floating beside it from top to bottom, and widgets sized for the iPad.
Draw on your page
Type / and pick Drawing to draw with your finger. On iPad, just start with Apple Pencil below the last line. Your Mac shows them too.
Ready for iPhone Duo
Closed, every button moves to the bar on the side and long screens scroll. Open, your calendar floats on the left and Karu stays on the right. Fold it like a book and they split the screen in half. Held upright, the month drops down from the top with the day's list beside it.
Blocks and links as you type
On iPhone and iPad, type / to turn a line into a task, a heading, a quote or any of 14 blocks. Type @ for a date, a note or a meeting, and # for a tag, all in a card right next to the line.
Drawings from your iPhone and iPad
Draw on your iPhone or iPad and the drawing shows up on the same page on your Mac, in light and dark.
Better
- On iPhone and iPad, sheets close with the × on the left and confirm with the ✓ on the right.
- Karu takes about 4 MB less space on iPhone.
- On iPad and the open iPhone Duo, a Fit image stays at a comfortable height.
- On a large iPhone and the closed iPhone Duo, your page starts where the titles start.
- On iPhone and iPad, Notes, Saved and Search look like Tasks, with gray rows and no lines between them.
- The + floats at the bottom right, close to your thumb, in glass tinted with your accent, and on iPhone it drops into the tab bar as you scroll.
- On iPad, writing by hand with Apple Pencil no longer moves the page or opens the / and @ menus.
- Type @ and pick Today, or Custom… for any other day.
- On iPhone, the Today tab shows the day of the week above the date.
- The line that sums up your day waits a minute before rewriting itself, so it stays put while you check off tasks.
Fixed
- In @, picking a note whose name has an accent or an ñ now links it.
- A pinned note deleted on another device, or with its folder, no longer leaves a row in Notes that opens nothing.
- The Karu Pro sheet opens even right after launch, for example from a locked Pro widget.
- Going back with «‹ Tasks» and jumping to a note again no longer leaves a blank page.
- On iPhone and iPad, with a hardware keyboard, the line you type stays above the keyboard bar.
- On a short iPhone screen, the welcome and the notification and Saved sheets scroll instead of cutting off their buttons.
- On the closed iPhone Duo, sheets, the welcome, Saved and the calendars in Date, Move to page and When fit the screen instead of getting cut off.
- On the closed iPhone Duo, Quick Entry with a pasted link keeps the send button above the keyboard.
- On the closed iPhone Duo, notices and the «‹ Tasks» pill sit at the bottom, out of the way.
- On iPhone Duo, the Today bar lines up, and the open month reaches the edge without the next one peeking out under the side bar.
- On iPhone, a Today with its completed tasks hidden shows Start writing again.

Gentler notification sounds
Eleven new sounds for Karu's notifications, softer and quieter, from Pebble to Aurora. Pick yours in Settings › Appearance & Sound.
Move blocks with your finger
On iPhone, hold the left edge of a line and drag it anywhere on the page. The other lines make room as you go.
Photos that tell their story
A photo in Saved says where and when it was taken, and Karu suggests a name for it by looking at what's in it.
Swipe your tags
On iPhone, swipe a tag in Notes to pin it, rename it across your library or delete it.
A smoother pull to the month
Pull Today down to show the month: the page follows your finger, keeps its momentum when you let go, and the month slides in with a soft fade.
Settings, one tap closer
Tap Sound, Calendars or Reminders and you go straight to choosing. Your streak map fades into the past, and Karu Pro has a new card.
Your own folder
If you make a folder for Karu during the welcome, Karu uses it as it is, without a second Karu folder inside.
Better
- What's New opens anytime from the Help menu on Mac, with Karu Pro marked PRO.
- One Date menu for tasks, with Custom…, and Move to page at the bottom.
- Every notice on iPhone shows at the bottom of the screen.
- Birthdays in your widgets get a cake next to the name.
- Filter chips in Tasks and Saved feel like buttons, tinted with your accent.
- On iPhone, the # sits right after B I U in the keyboard bar.
- Choosing where your notes live starts with Use iCloud Drive, so there's no folder to create.
- Link icons are sharper, and show up for more sites, still asked only from the site itself.
Fixed
- A second Karu folder inside your library is combined into it, without losing a line.
- Long notices no longer get cut off.
- On iPhone, the line you type stays above the keyboard bar.
- Quick Entry opens with Today picked, and its pill shows like Tomorrow's.
- Typing in Today with the month open no longer hides it all under the keyboard.
- On iPhone, deleting a tag, a note or a folder with a swipe no longer closes the app.

Karu now speaks Portuguese, French, German, Italian and Japanese, on Mac and iPhone. Quick Entry understands dates in each one, and so does Siri.

The month, with event dots
Each day shows up to three dots in your calendar colors, on iPhone and Mac. The Calendar widget can show them too.
Bigger text on iPhone
Karu follows the text size you pick in Settings, up to the largest accessibility sizes.
Move a task to another day
Send a task and its subtasks to tomorrow or any day. A task scheduled for another day shows its date where you wrote it.
Delete tags
Remove a tag from every note at once. The text around it stays.
Easier to read
Events that already ended stay readable, and the agenda card on iPhone is lighter.

Images, your size
Make any image Small, Medium or Fit, and open its menu for Quick Look, Copy Image and more, on Mac and iPhone.
Back and forward on Mac
Move through the pages you visited with ⌘[ and ⌘], or with the arrows in the toolbar.
Jump right to it
Tap a task or an event in a widget and Karu opens its day with the line highlighted. A Tasks pill takes you back to where you were.
Save from anywhere on Mac
Karu shows up in the Share menu, and Quick Entry offers to paste the link you just copied.
Quick actions
Touch and hold the Karu icon on iPhone, or open its Dock menu on Mac, for New Task, New Note, Save Link and Search.
Last used times
Setting a notification offers the last custom time you picked, so the usual one is a tap away.
